The 2019 Honda Odyssey: Powerful, Roomy, and Fun to Drive
Minivans often get a bad rap. Though they’ve had the “uncool” label forever, if you’re a parent needing to tote kids and all their stuff all over town, you’ll think your large and spacious minivan is the coolest. This is why no matter where you go, you see parking lots and roadways filled with the Honda Odyssey. This minivan recently received the top spots in two categories from U.S. News Best Car rankings: best minivan for the money and best minivan for families. (And here’s a little secret: You don’t need to have any kids to enjoy everything the Odyssey has to offer.)
Why is the Honda Odyssey so Acclaimed?
For a large vehicle, the Odyssey accelerates easily, which can be attributed to its 3.5-liter, 6-cylinder engine that generates 280 horsepower. Due to its front-wheel drive, the Odyssey offers an extremely smooth ride, even over rough terrain. It also has great handling, perhaps even as well as the Honda Accord.
One reason why minivans are known as family cars is because they can accommodate so many people, and the Odyssey doesn’t disappoint in this area. Eight people can fit comfortably, and available features can make things even more enjoyable for everyone. These include power sliding doors, heated and ventilated front seats, and Magic Slide second-row seats that can be adjusted into five different positions. When all the seats are in use, there is 38.6 cubic feet of cargo space, but that number goes up to 92 when the third-row seats are down and 158 when the second- and third-row seats are folded.
There are several tech features that come standard with the Odyssey, such as a rearview camera, 7-speaker sound system, two USB ports, and hands-free texting. Add-ons include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and a Blu-ray entertainment system.
2019 Honda Odyssey Safety Features
When it comes to safety, the Odyssey is one of the top 2019 Honda cars. Standard safety features include several front and rear airbags, child safety locks, and traction control. There are numerous available features, such as park assist and blind spot monitoring. In addition, drivers can get Honda Sensing, which includes lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision braking.
