Every child deserves ongoing support from members of the community, especially at the start of the school season. That’s why our team at Swickard Honda was proud to help out during a back-to-school campaign at Sitton Elementary School in Portland, OR, where we gave more than 300 kids everything they needed to head back to school.
In early August, several Swickard Honda volunteers filled colorful backpacks with notebooks, pencils, folders, and more for local students of Sitton Elementary School. Then, on August 28th, our sales consultant, Beau Thomas, joined advisory board members from the Kind is Better organization to pass out the backpacks and goodies to Sitton Elementary’s students.
Along with plenty of smiles, our excellent crew also helped deliver a message of kindness to every student at Sitton Elementary. Parents, children, and teachers were overwhelmed by the community support, enforcing the mission of the Kind is Better movement, which aims to “spread the word and encourage others to talk, listen, and be kind to one another.”
Each team member at Swickard Honda prioritizes community support above all else. That’s why we’re always looking for unique ways to give back to those in our area, like surprising our customers with customer appreciation giveaways and providing special discounts for valued members of our community. For instance, we provide a Honda Military Appreciation Offer for all active duty military and veterans as well as several back-to-school specials.

Does your 2019 Honda Accord rattle when you hit higher speeds? Does your steering wheel vibrate? These are just a couple signs that your car may need an alignment check. Often technicians examine your alignment during or after every oil change, but you never know when your vehicle’s tires will become dislodged. If it’s been a while since your last alignment check, consider scheduling an appointment at our Honda service center in Gladstone, OR.
Alignment Check Warning Signs
Your car is designed to distribute weight equally across all four tires regardless of road conditions. Over time, however, your vehicle loses some of its balance and may start shifting its weight to one side, which can cause uneven tire wear. Signs that point towards an alignment check include worn-out new tires, a continually crooked or loose steering wheel, or unusual vibrations inside your car.
Why Should I Get an Alignment Check at Swickard Honda?
Not only can uneven wear reduce the lifespan of your tires, but it can also damage various parts of your suspension. Your tie rods, ball joints, and steering bushing may all be affected by an improperly aligned car. Extra pressure on these components can cause them to buckle under pressure, which can lead to accidents and serious repairs down the line. Our alignment checks at Swickard Honda only take an hour to complete, whereas a more significant repair, like a broken tie rod, can take much longer.
Is it time for your annual alignment check? Do you have concerns about how your Honda vehicle is driving? Schedule a Honda service appointment online or by visiting Swickard Honda in Gladstone, OR. We hope to see you at our dealership soon!

Whether you’re driving a daily commute or heading off on vacation, staying safe on the road is the top priority for you and your family. However, road hazards can abound, especially in warm weather, and leave drivers unsure of how to react. So today we want to share some tips for how to deal with these common hazards.
Not only can construction cause congestion on the highway, but it also comes with extra stress. Workers and trucks can come into your lane without warning. Plus, heavy equipment could block your view of the road ahead. When approaching a work zone, it’s a good idea to take precautions like:
- Slowing down
- Moving over
- Staying alert
Inclement Weather and Road Conditions
Although we won’t have any snow on the ground in the Portland area for months, we can still get rain and fog during the late summer in Oregon. When it’s raining, it’s a good idea to slow down and increase the distance between yourself and the next car, as rain can mix with oil from vehicles to make the roads slick. When driving in fog, be sure to only use your regular headlights, as high beams can reflect back into your line of vision.
Distracted Drivers and Pedestrians
Distraction comes in many shapes and forms. Other drivers the road may be intoxicated, inexperienced, or using their phone. The same goes for people walking or riding a bicycle. This means you need to practice defensive driving to ensure that you’re ready to stop if an obstacle, car, or human, enters the roadway. Check your mirrors, stay aware of what’s in your blind spots, and slow down.
Although it’s impossible to predict what’ll happen on the highway, by staying alert, you can help protect yourself and your family. At Swickard Honda, you’ll find a variety of new and used Honda cars. Our team can help you choose the safety features that are important to you.
